Roberta Cruger

Biography

A freelance journalist for over 15 years, Roberta Cruger began writing at the seminal rock publication Creem Magazine as its founding media editor. Her writing has since appeared in the Los Angeles Times magazine, Salon, The Believer, Soma, Teen People, Robb Report, Village Voice, Continental, MSNBC websites, among others, covering a range of beats including arts and entertainment, cultural trends, travel, and issues from green cards to green design.

Her book credits include a chapter in the anthology Rock She Wrote (Delta/Cooper Square Press), and as editor/contributor to Seattle editions of Moon Metro (Avalon Travel Publishing) and Hungry? (Glove Box Books), as well as London Moxie (Metropolitan). She’s taught at NYC’s School of Visual Arts, the University of Washington’s Experimental College, Mexico’s Universidad de las Americas, and ran the Writing Program and Entertainment Studies department at LTU in Southern California.

After acquiring a film degree at NYU, her work in cable television involved creating the “WomenVision” series at Time/Warner’s Manhattan Cable and developing signature shows at MTV, such as the VMAs and “Headbangers Ball.” Currently she lives in Miami Beach.
